This tool creates a fundamental unit that is sure to add sparkle to your quilt block designs. Although the ruler shape is similar to the V Block, the final unit has two seamlines radiating from a single corner, so the center triangle in the finished unit resembles a beam of light shining out of that corner. Accurate construction has always been challenging until now. With the Corner Beam tool, all the shapes are cut slightly over sized and once sewn, trimmed to extremely precise units with seams perfectly placed for a crisp sharp point every time. Brighten up your blocks by adding Corner Beam to your toolbox today!
Finally, a tool and technique that will give you high success adding fabric corners to basic shapes. For years we’ve been layering small squares on big squares, marking & stitching on a diagonal line, then hoping everything lines up when we fold the small corner section back into place. If you’ve tried it, you know the pitfalls: too big, too short, too crooked and way too wasteful. No more. With your new Corner Pop tool, you will be able to trim rather than mark, add an oversized replacement triangle and then square everything to a perfect size. In twenty two different sizes - whole, half and quarter inches. Increased success without undue stress for every level of quilter. What’s not to love!
Now you can make those tough elongated diamond units needed for any Storm at Sea project with ease and success. But remember, this is a basic unit that can combine with any of the other fundamental units to create many, many other interesting designs and quilt projects. You'll precision cut the center diamond, then sew on side triangles to create an oversized unit that you'll trim down to the perfect size.
We know many of you have been looking for a larger Square Squared tool to make big Diamond Square units for your modern quilts or for framing your beautiful embroidery. But what would you say if we told you could also use it to make Stacked Squares (like in Storm at Sea), Pineapple Blocks, Snail’s Trail Blocks, and a fancy version of a Flying Goose we’re calling Birds of Paradise? With all this, we know you’re itching to give it a try!
This big, versatile, two piece tool set comes with the basic instructions for making Diamond Square units that finish from 1” up to 12” in whole inch increments. You'll want to keep your eyes open, too, because we’ll be introducing patterns and technique sheets for the additional techniques and blocks as they become available.
The Quilter’s Magic Wand is an accurate ½” wide ruler with an etched line running down the middle. Use it for marking or measuring when high precision is required. It is especially useful for marking those diagonal seam lines when using the Tucker Trimmer and Wing Clipper lines of tools. It comes in 8 different colors, one to match everyone’s sewing room!
A larger version of the Petite Hunter's Star tool, this ruler uses the same easy strip piecing steps and same accurate trim down processes, but it results in blocks more appropriate for those larger quilt projects. The tool includes step by step illustrated instructions, charts for future projects, and a “basic recipe” included to get quilters started on their first set of 16 blocks. The "basic recipe" has over 40 layout variations which can be seen in our Basic Recipe Razzle Dazzle photo gallery. The Large Star ruler makes the star points larger than those made with the Petite Star ruler thus giving those 7” and 8” blocks a slightly different look from blocks made with the Petite Star tool. So if full size quilts (twin, queen and king) are your passion, this is the tool that will help you make them quicker, more accurately and with much less stress!
The Rapid Fire© Hunter’s Star tool and technique allow for streamlined construction and precision trim down and thus results in ease and accuracy when making these traditionally difficult blocks. There are multiple sizes on each tool, clearly illustrated step by step instructions, design layout options, and a “basic recipe” included to get quilters started on their first set of 16 blocks. The "basic recipe" has over 40 layout variations which can be seen in our Basic Recipe Razzle Dazzle photo gallery. This allows quilters to customize their projects right from the beginning so that each person can achieve that individualized look they so desire. Free video demonstrations are available on line, and a full length DVD that is loaded with additional hints, tips, and design ideas can also be purchased to enhance the included printed instructions. A must have tool if a Hunter’s Star project is on your “Bucket List”!
Finally, a tool and technique that will allow any quilter to quickly, easily and accurately piece traditional Lemoyne Star blocks in 10 different sizes! The block units are strip pieced, assembled without using any “Y” seams, pieced so that the blocks themselves are slightly oversized so at the end each can be trimmed to an exact size. You can check out the process in our free online video demonstration. Deb’s step by step directions and Constellation bonus quilt project will have you turning Lemoyne Star blocks out by the dozens. A truly addicting ruler and process.
Don't forget to consider the Tucker Trimmer 3 for the final trimdown. It's the perfect companion ruler to your Rapid Fire Lemoyne Star - it'll easily handle the final trim for all 10 block sizes. Check it out here!
Finally a tool for dealing with pieced rectangles that is easy to use and accurate. The Split Rects ruler gives you all you need to make perfect units every time: charts for the starting strips, guide lines for cutting the elongated triangles, an angled edge for easy cutting, and a trim down section that enables each pieced unit to be quickly and exactly trimmed to the desired size with perfect placement of the angled seam. Another great tool that is exactly right for your next quilt!
Finally a tool that simplifies the construction of the Diamond Square unit without having to use paper foundation piecing. The Square Squared (Square2) is an all-in-one tool that gives you a window template for accurately cutting the center square, a chart printed right on the ruler for the recommended size to cut the triangles sewn to the four sides of the center square and a trim down section on the ruler that simplifies the alignment of ruler to fabric unit and allows everyone to clean up the unit to a precise measurement every time. You can see the tool demonstrated on our free online video demonstration (see below, also on YouTube). This unit is a tricky one to get accurate, but with the Square Squared tool and technique of oversizing and trimming down you’ll have far better success than with any other product on the market.
The Tucker Trimmer tool was designed to help quilter’s quickly and easily trim down units that are made with triangles: half square triangle squares, quarter square triangle squares (hourglass units), and combinations of half square and quarter square triangle squares (combination units). It has multiple diagonals which allow you to align ruler guide lines with unit seam lines to quickly locate the exact center of pieced units. This makes trim down easy, precise, and perfect every time. No more figuring, or guessing, or struggling to find a center point, and you can see it demonstrated on our free online video demo. I use it for much more than just trimming however and consider it my “must have” tool every time I head to my cutting table.
An “in between” version of the original Tucker Trimmer I tool, this handy ruler allows you to do all of the same functions as the first except that the sizes of the units are in ¼” or ¾” increments. Although these particular sizes are not nearly as popular as the ½” and whole inch increments available on the Tucker Trimmer I, they are sometimes part of your quilting projects. And if you’ve ever tried to trim down a 2¾” hourglass unit you will highly appreciate this tool. The diagonal guidelines on the Tucker Trimmer II will cross precisely at the center of a 2¾” unit so finding the center is a breeze. A great supplemental tool to have in your ruler collection.
The third in the Tucker Trimmer series of rulers, this version of our Tucker Trimmer is used for any block or unit that is larger than a 6” finished block size. It has all of the sizes of the Tucker Trimmer 1 plus thirteen additional size options up to and including trimming blocks to 13” (that will finish to 12 ½” when sewn). I love to use this tool to trim down my Lemoyne Star blocks made with my Rapid Fire Lemoyne Star tool and any type of block that needs to be trimmed and squared to a specific size. A terrific tool with all the same benefits as the original Tucker Trimmer.
This tool is a must have if you like making quilts with these tall star point units. Sometimes known as “Peaky and Spike”, a nickname attached to the unit about 20 years ago by a famous quilter, Doreen Speckman, this particular shape has perplexed quilters forever. With Deb’s tool, which you can see used on our free online video demonstration (see below, also on YouTube), you’ll be cutting the center and side triangles slightly over sized and then with the same tool trimming the sewn piece to an extremely precise unit with seams perfectly placed for crisp, sharp points at every intersection. So think about adding this magnificent new tool to your toolbox, you’ll be glad you did.
The Wing Clipper is a must have tool if you are making Flying Geese units for your quilt. This tool, and the associated Fast Flying Geese construction technique, allow you to make four finished units from five squares. The best part is that each unit is constructed slightly oversized so each can be trimmed to a perfect size with perfect seam placement once the sewing and pressing are complete by using the Wing Clipper tool. You can see the tool in action on our free online video demonstration below. Every single unit will be exactly right every time. Now who ever thought that would happen with Flying Geese units?!?!
An in between tool that trims down Flying Geese units in 9 additional size not covered with the Wing Clipper 1. Many of today’s best designers like to create quilts and patterns with Flying Geese units that are based on finished heights of ¼” and ¾” increments. They are sometimes just the right size for a particular design and having a tool that gives you the opportunity to make them quickly, and then clean them up with high precision, is a welcome addition to many quilter’s tool box. By supplementing the Wing Clipper 1 with this tool, you will have 19 different size options for traditional Flying Geese units. Absolutely the best set of tools on the market!
