Welcome to the Studio 180 Design Modern Opulence Blog Hop! We’re excited to share our latest collection in conjunction with Island Batik. We hope the rich gold and navy colors and beautiful geometric prints spark your creativity. We have enjoyed working with this collection and think you’ll love some of our favorite patterns reimagined in these luxurious fabrics. Four of our Certified Instructors have also made table runners and table toppers and will be sharing their projects on their blogs this week.

We’ve paired this fabric collection with a few of our favorite patterns. Take a look at how well the rich tones work in these projects.

First up we have SueNami. Made with the Petite Rapid Fire Hunter’s Star tool and the Wing Clipper, this quilt was a favorite with attendees at the International Quilt Festival in Houston in November. It’s amazing how different a pattern can look when made in different fabrics!

Next, we have Love Links. Made with just the Wing Clipper I tool, this quilt is perfect for someone who wants to practice making flying geese. This quilt can be made in 8 different sizes, from 13” x 14” all the way to king size and is designed to use 10” squares, fat eighths, and fat quarters. We love how the project came out using the golden and copper toned fabrics.

Our final project for today’s blog is Refraction. Perfect as a table or bed runner, this quilt uses 2½” strips and the Diamond Rects tool. The positioning of the fabrics from lighter golden copper tones to rich navy gives the look of a gradient. The geometric prints work well in this modern style pattern.

Be sure to stop by the blogs of four of our Certified Instructors this week. They have made beautiful table toppers and table runners with Modern Opulence. They will share their process of making the projects along with a few tips and tricks. You’re sure to find a project that inspires you!
