2018, What a year for Studio 180 Design!

Phew, did this year absolutely fly by for anyone else?! I swear, it feels like it just started a couple of weeks ago, and we're already bidding adieu to 2018.

While we might not have been able to be everywhere, we sure tried our best. 48 shows, lectures, and classes. We collectively traveled approximately 16,500 miles over numerous flights, drives, and one Alaska cruise (I haven’t been able to calculate the nautical miles traveled but it was a lot)!

Patterns. So many patterns.

The home office didn't let any grass grow under their feet either while I was away. In this year alone we released 12 new patterns (Four Patch Frenzy, Mountain Blaze, Whirling Dervish, Effervescence, Fiesta, Calypso, Aurora, Ripples, Flight Path, New Beginnings, Twilight Path, Christmas Everlasting), 4 new technique sheets (Triangle Pizazz, Geese on the Edge, Starburst Lemoyne, Cyclone), and the new Hunter's Star Royal Treasures book.

Our social media team (Sarah and Haley) brought you the 11 new BlockBuster blocks, posted monthly on our Facebook page. They also coordinated our first blog hop, Evening Elegance, which gave you the first official quilt project made using the BlockBuster blocks.

I just couldn't let 2018 slip by without releasing one more new video!

We've also been working to move our video production to a fully in-house setup so we can release youtube content and video demos more frequently. In doing so, we taped and released two long awaited videos: the Four Patch Square Up Tool and the Shaded 9 Patch demonstration videos.

I also had my first collaboration with a fabric company, Island Batik. You've already seen the quilt projects for the the release of my first signature line of fabric, Twilight Chic by Kathy Engle for Deb Tucker (though the fabric won't be available for purchase until Q1 2019).

Look at all those new, freshly certified faces!

In addition, we also welcomed 17 new Certified Instructors into the Studio 180 Design family, added two new hires here at headquarters (Amy and Toby). And the very best of all, my first grandchild, Owen, was born!

Isn't he too cute!?

As I look back on the year I'd like to thank my dedicated staff who are my duck feet beneath the surface of the pond, my amazingly talented Certified Instructors, all the enlightened shop owners who see the value of what we do, and most of all to you, our customers. From you I derive the inspiration to create and design. I love seeing your photos of the beautiful projects you create using my tools, so please keep sharing those with me. Thank you for your support and inspiration.

Here's to an amazing year, farewell 2018!
