Have you enjoyed the Squiggles, Dots and Lines blog hop this week? Five Certified Instructors created gorgeous quilts to showcase our latest whimsical fabric collection for Island Batik.

We challenged the CIs to work with technique sheets for their projects. Technique sheets are a great way to expand the use of your tools! With almost forty different techniques across the whole tool lineup, the creative possibilities are almost endless.

Let’s take a look at the projects the CIs came up with.

On Monday Tina Dillard of Quilting Affection Designs worked with the Star 60® tool and the Capped 60 technique sheet. She used the units as side triangles for the regular Star 60® units creating a unique border around her quilt. This project is bursting from the inside out with these beautiful jewel toned colors!

On Tuesday Jackie O’Brien of If These Threads Could Talk chose the Curved Log Cabin technique sheet for the Tucker Trimmer® III. She used a traditional layout for her quilt, but also provided us with examples of alternative layouts! We love the stark contrast of the rich dark hues of the fabric with the white background.

On Wednesday Phyllis Fay of Tucker University shared her project using the Large Square Squared® tool and the Stacked Squares and Birds of Paradise technique sheets. With just three blues from the fabric collection, she created a gorgeous quilt that was inspired by a Tucker University design sheet. The geometric blocks pair perfectly with the patterns in the fabric.

On Thursday Diana Mann of Murgaboo Quilts picked the Hollow Cube 60 technique sheet for the Star 60® tool. She chose an unusual layout for her wall hanging, veering away from the more traditional hexagonal layout for Star 60® projects. The choice of three different colors for her light, medium, and dark fabrics give her quilt depth and dimension.

The week wrapped up on Friday with a project from Toni Raynolds of Pieced Perfection. She took inspiration from the sparkle like effects of the collection and made Constellation, the pattern that comes with the Lemoyne Star® tool. She picked several of the technique sheets available for this tool to use in her striking quilt.

How about some more inspiration using Squiggles, Dots and Lines? We have a couple of our favorite patterns reimagined in these beautiful blues and greens accented with magenta and purple.

This is Blue Starry Night from page 84 of the Hidden Treasures book. This quilt uses the Petite Hunter’s Star® tool in a traditional layout and the beautiful blues and greens of the collection.

Full Spectrum shines in all of the hues of Squiggles, Dots and Lines. This quilt uses our latest technique sheet for the Wedge Star® tool, Fractured Wedge.

That wraps up the blog hop! Be sure to follow us on social media as we have so much more to come in this collection! We have some original patterns designed just by us just for this line, as well as patterns from other designers and Certified Instructors that we will be sharing soon.

If you love this unique and happy collection from Island Batik as much as we do, be sure to ask for it at your local quilt shop!
